Summary

A great way to learn the basics of indoor rock climbing with a group of like minded community members (civilians and veterans)!

Description

We invite you to join us as we explore the fundamentals of rope work, climber movement, and gym etiquette. Our goal is to ensure everyone can enjoy the thrill of climbing in a safe and supportive environment. This program is specially designed for veterans and individuals with physical disabilities, aiming to provide a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all. No prior experience is necessary; participants must be at least 8 years old and capable of following basic instructions.

Climbing offers numerous benefits, including physical and mental improvements. Research shows it can aid individuals with various disabilities such as PTSD, amputations, and TBI. We warmly welcome individuals of all abilities and are committed to giving back to our veteran community.

The physical benefits of rock climbing include enhanced fine motor skills, coordination, balance, and core strength. Mentally, it promotes problem-solving, focus, and resilience. Each participant is valued as an individual, and we encourage everyone to challenge their personal comfort zones at their own pace.

All veterans are welcome, regardless of age, gender, or ability. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, flexible clothing. Equipment, such as harnesses and shoes, is provided.

Please note: Climbing gyms can be high-stimulation environments, featuring bright lights, bold colors, and diverse sounds. We recommend bringing any comfort items or ear protection if needed.

The climbing gym charges all non-veteran participants a reduced fee for a harness, shoes, and day pass (usually around $20 total).
