Description

Without Limits: Camping For All is an introductory camping event that provides a rich and challenging outdoor adventure experience for individuals with physical disabilities, their friends and families.  The program creates an opportunity for participants to challenge themselves physically and psychologically, while working toward common goals in an outdoor setting. The program includes kayaking, cycling, fishing and camping in one of Illinois' most accessible campgrounds.

Spending time in nature provides a host of benefits and by simply getting a breath of fresh air and a little sunshine it can shift our moods for the better. There can be significant barriers to outdoor camping for individuals with physical disabilities getting into the great outdoors but Without Limits aims to remove those!

Thanks to the ADA, there are some county, state and federal parks that offer accessible campsites that can accommodate individuals with disabilities and feature level, paved surfaces, accessible kayak launch, fishing location, accessible trails and other amenities like bathrooms equipped with roll-in showers that meet accessibility standards. Camp Bull Frog is one of those venues and we are excited to have the opportunity to provide this event here!

This is a cost free program thanks to the Forest Preserves of Cook County Conservation and Experiential Programming grant. Lodging, camping equipment, food and activities will be provided for all but individuals are required to bring any additional supplies or equipment that may be necessary for the weekend. We encourage familes, friends and caregivers to attend as Adaptive Adventures will not be providing one on one aides or personal care services.

We aim to make this introductory camping experience as accommodating as possible for all campers but we will also have cabins and sleep accommodations for individuals that may require such due to medical needs. Accessible accommodations include: indoor accessible lodges with beds, air mattresses, cots, larger tents and sleeping pads. All of these are in limited supply so we ask that only those individuals who require them please register under that category.

**The campground amenities includes:

Accessible large cabins (cabins #6 & #7) with accessible parking, path of travel to cabin, roll-in shower with bench, accessible sink, raised fire pit and accessible picnic table.

Accessible small cabins (cabins #8 & #9) with accessible parking, path of travel to cabin, raised fire pit and accessible picnic table.

Features:

Heat and air-conditioning

Bunk beds for eight people

Single beds for two people in a separate room

Ceiling fans

Private, accessible restroom with toilet, shower and two sinks

Porch

Picnic table

We look forward to seeing you out camping with us this summer!
