Summary

Private Event to San Antonio Amputee Foundation - You must be a current member with SAAF. MUST HAVE COVID Immunization (Both Shots) and maintain general Covid Protocol: Adaptive Adventures invites all members of SAAF to bring their bikes, or secure one of ours and put it to the test. Try one of our hand cycles, trikes, mountain or road bikes.... or bring one of yours and let us help you make it fit with your limb difference or amputation.

Description

Join Adaptive Adventures and San Antonio Amputee Foundation, as part of our National Adaptive Cycling Team Tour, as we engage in a group ride at the McAllister Park following a single loop ride around the park. The group ride will follow the guidelines of prrof of Covid Vaacination, and general in-person Covid precautions. 

Ride with us as we will bring various types of bikes to demonstrate and allow to be used if a participant needs one. A true rubber band ride to allow for mechanical safety and check-in's along the route. Riders are encouraged to bring their own bikes if they have them to accomodate for those riders who don't have a bike of their own. We can help you dial in your bike to better fit you. 

 

Event will begin at 10:00 AM (CST) which will include demo & fitting followed by a fun group ride at 11:00 PM (CST). We will return to the start and enjoy a lunch together, provided by Adaptive Adventures and SAAF. Post lunch challenge and skills on bikes on the terrain park- Lets giggle and ride, while learning something new, and try different bikes.

*Please register for each individual session, if you plan to attend both please select both, select if you will bring your OWN bike or will need to borrow a bike for the group ride. Please understand that it is HIGHLY reccomended that if you can also bring your own bike since the various types of cycles will be limited, and we want to be sure you're able to better fit your own bikes and mechanicals while we are in town. 

*Please arrive on time and partcipate in the registered time slots. We will NOT be able to accomodate if you are not registered or arrive for a different session due to COVID-19 guidelines and regulations. In order to maintain small group sizes and the attention to each individuals needs for adaptation or fitting, we will enforce the group sizes and ensure that you have registered for the session.

* learn to GO FAST on your bikes.... or find your way to racing if going fast safely is your thing.

Registration

  1. In order to participate, partcipant MUST register for event, select a group, and indicate if they will use their own bike or use an Adaptive Adventures bike (limited).
    • Spots may full and a waitlist will be created. 
    • Please only select only the sessions you plan to attend to allow other slots to be open for other participants. 
  2. In order to participate, participant MUST read and sign the Adaptive Adventures Waiver (<--Click Link) prior to event.
  3. Participants are encouraged to join the Adaptive Adventures Cycling Page (<--Click Link) to join our community and follow fellow riders where challenges, information, and other events are posted. 
  4. In order to participate, all atendees MUST follow safety guidelines by the state, county, and Adaptive Adventures in relation to Covid-19 including social distancing, proper PPE, proper masks, and other rules/regulations.

Arrival/Location 

Participants should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to their designated start time in order to get your gear ready, tuned, and ready to fly.

 

If you have registered to borrow one of Adaptive Adventures bikes, please plan accordingly and arrive early prior to start time to ensure proper fitting and sizing.  

 

Parking is limited but plan to park around McAllister Fields Parking within the park and surrounding areas. Look for the cycling trailer with the Adaptive Adventures logo.

Covid-19 Return to In-Person Programming

 

 

* The following COVID-19 guidelines will be enforced;

Any race or group ride will be conducted in as safe a manner as possible meaning limited crowds before and after the ride or clinic, which means most likely groups of 10 or fewer. 

All activities WILL Observe social distancing guide lines (6 ft) before and after each event. Participants must wear face coverings over nose and mouth if the 6’ guideline cannot be maintained – not including during the actual rides.

Masks are not required by participants while cycling on trial when beyond the 6' distance. Please observe social distancing while running/ passing another participant.

Any ride or race start will be staggered in small groups in a time trial format. 

Participants must be healthy with no symptoms of COVID-19 and have had no contact with an individual positive for COVID-19 within the previous 10 days.

Individual water bottles will be available, Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be provided as well. 

Please be respectful of participants and any staff or volunteers. We want this to be a fun and successful event for all but we need to adhere to guidelines to continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
