This is part of our Central Texas Veterans Tour held in Austin and San Antonio. Serving all wounded, ill, injured veterans and civilians, education centers and VA Hospitals.

Learn to assess your patient base, or better fit and adapt these cycles, as well custom fit and repair a bike, handcycl, and recumbent trike.

Join Adaptive Adventures, as part of our National VA Cycling Team Education and Clinic Tour, as we engage in an exploration of access, mechanics and experience. 

Our staff and amazing community partners will take you though a process of developing skillsets and knowledge to better assess, fit, and create adaptations to best meet range of motion for the sport of cycling and paddlesports  The group ride will follow the guidelines of a six (ft) requirement for social distance and waves to diminish clumping up. Ride with us as we will bring various types of bikes to demonstrate and allow to be used if a participant needs one. A true rubberband ride to allow for mechanical safety and check-in's along the route. Riders are encouraged to bring their own bikes if they have them to accomodate for those riders who don't have a bike of their own.

Event will begin at 10:00 AM (CST) at Morgans Wonderland under the pavillions. Each zone will have various sopecialized adaptive equipment and opportunities to better understand VA and other equipment ordering, fitting, assessment 101 through the eyes of an adaptive cycling expert using some best techniques used in the PT and RT professions. We will of course offer experience to better transfers, ride the various adaptive cycles, and learn the nuances of adaptive cycling.

Experience- Ride, Fit, and Technique  ZONE 3

 

Goals

Increase everyBody veteran’s involvement in cycling Increase awareness of safe cycling locations Increase knowledge of parts Demonstrate ability to perform minor and advanced repairs Explain process of obtaining sports equipment from VA Learn to GO FAST on your bikes.... or find your way to racing if going fast safely is your thing.

Parking is limited in a shared sport stadium Lot. Look for the Adaptive Adventures Logo Trailer and Registration Tents near the Pavillions.
