Intro to Dragon Boat Racing - Wyoming

Curt Gowdy State Park Dragon Boat Experience 

Come experience the power of paddling side by side in a dragon boat filled with 22 people in the beautiful scenery of Curt Gowdy State Park. You will learn the basics of dragon boat racing and participate in a mock race. All abilities are welcome and no experience is necessary. Find camaraderie with your fellow paddlers and feel the surge of the boat as you all paddle together. 

Expectations:

Must be able to self-transfer up or down by 12+ inches; swimming skills recommended; must be comfortable in close confines with other athletes in narrow seating; must be 18 years or older to participate. We will be practicing safe social distancing while in our boats. Please see our COVID-19 Return To Play Plan for more information on the guidelines that we will be following.

What to bring:

• Water bottle
• Towel
• Raingear
• Change of clothes (just in case)
• Paddle (if you have your own)

Expect to progress in your skills learning how to paddle efficiently and effectively with your new unit, into phases of endurance, and taking this new fitness and family into your at-home life. Together, we will learn how to improve our fitness, canoe stroke, power, and ability to feel the hull of that dragon boat move with speed and stealth.  

*Please Note* Participants must be able to follow directions and effectively communicate with or without assistance provided by themselves to be eligible for Adaptive Adventures programs
