Short Description

Adaptive paddle sports are a great way to explore a new environment and get out on the water. Join us for a great day of fishing, paddleboarding, and kayaking!

· Enjoy community with others

· Get outside to be active

 

Schedule

Join us at Eagle Creek Reservoir from 10am – 3pm. 10am – 12pm we will have kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing available. After a slight break for lunch (provided) from 12pm – 1pm, we will resume for an afternoon session of kayaking, paddleboarding, and/or fishing from 1pm – 3pm.

 

Who Can Attend?

This is a private event for Veterans with the Indianapolis VA. Please contact Bridget Sullivan or Dustin Ervin for details on how to attend.

Kayaking can be easily adapted to almost any ability level. We have opportunities for anyone with a primary physical or visual disability! We have special adaptive equipment that can adapt to your ability level.

 

**Please Note** - Participants must be able to follow directions and effectively communicate with or without assistance provided by themselves to be eligible for Adaptive Adventures programs.

 

What Can I Expect?

Once you arrive, we will do a brief dryland training on paddle sports, the specific equipment available, and basic strokes. Then, we will fit you in a kayak or paddle board. We have special adaptive equipment like trunk support, grip support, a one-handed paddle adaptation, etc. Once everyone is on the water, we will do a brief in water training and go for about an hour group paddle. We have specially trained volunteers who will come along with you to help where needed.

 

How Should I Dress & Things to bring?

Please wear moisture wicking and comfortable clothing, closed toe shoes and bring rain gear and layers in case of inclement weather. Participants are recommended to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and hat.

You must register to attend this event. Please arrive on time. If you register and are no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible.
