Who Can Attend?
Without Limits: Camping for All is an introductory camping event that provides a rich and challenging outdoor adventure experience for individuals with primary physical disabilities, their friends and families.
**Please Note - The programs offered by Adaptive Adventures are specifically designed to serve individuals with primary physical disabilities. To be eligible for participation in Adaptive Adventures programs, individuals must be able to follow directions and effectively communicate without assistance. If assistance is needed, the participant must provide it themselves.
What Can I Expect?
This is a cost-free program thanks to the Forest Preserves of Cook County Conservation and Experiential Programming grant. We encourage families, friends and caregivers to attend as Adaptive Adventures will not be providing one on one aides or personal care services. We are excited for another year of adaptive climbing, cycling, fishing, and kayaking, as well as activities provided by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County staff.
How Should I Dress & Things to bring?
Come dressed in comfortable athletic attire (think breathable, moisture-wicking), closed toe shoes, and easily removable layers (weather dependent). Adaptive Adventures will provide all adaptive sporting equipment. We aim to make this introductory camping experience as accommodating as possible for all campers. Lodging, camping equipment, food and activities will be provided for all. However, individuals are required to bring any additional supplies or equipment that may be necessary for the weekend.
Accessible lodging accommodations include: an accessible campsite pad for tent camping, or indoor accessible lodges with beds, air mattresses, or cots. All of these are in limited supply so we ask that only those individuals who require them for medical needs please register under that category. Please complete by Wednesday, September 27th, you will not be provided loding if it is not completed by this time.
