Short Description

You must register to participate in this customized series with the VA system and Adaptive Adventures collaborative recreation therapy clinic event. All veteran participants must have a referral to PT, OT, and Recreation Therapy if they wish to qualify for the "earn-a-cycle" progression as part of the adaptive sports equipment grant. All volunteers will be assigned a buddy rider and progress through the therapeutic process for all new veteran riders. This clinic also provides level 2 mechanical and adaptive coaching theory for community partners and mentors.

A 4-day clinic in Albuquerque in partnership with New Mexico VA hospital.

 

Who Can Attend? 

Cycling can be easily adapted to almost any ability level. We have opportunities for anyone with a primary physical or visual disability! Adaptive Adventures will bring a trailer full of adaptive bikes and will fit you with the bike that best suits you.  Please feel free to attend this event with your family and/or friends, who can ride use a bike to ride alongside you.

 

**Please Note - Participants must be able to follow directions and effectively communicate with or without assistance provided by themselves to be eligible for Adaptive Adventures programs.

 

What Can I Expect?

Adaptive Adventures will bring a trailer full of adaptive bikes and will fit you with the bike that best suits you. Participants will then be able to ride alongside their family/friends, who can utilize a bike, throughout the park area.

 

How Should I Dress & Things to bring?

Come dressed in comfortable athletic attire to enjoy a bike ride (think breathable, moisture-wicking), closed toe shoes, and easily removable layers (weather dependent). Adaptive Adventures will provide adaptive equipment and helmets.
