🌿 Embrace the Great Outdoors with Adaptive Adventures and The Forest Preserve District of Cook County! ðŸŒ¿

We’ve got the equipment so everyone can create their own adventure. Join us to discover what equipment is available for checkout at the Forest Preserves of Cook County for paddling adventures. Caregivers, service providers and supporters are welcome to join in too and get trained by Adaptive Adventures on our accessible kayaks. Learn how to use and check out equipment that will be available at Forest Preserves nature centers and campgrounds. After instruction, everyone can try out the adaptive equipment.

  • 11 am to 1 pm: Instructional training
  • 2 pm to 5 pm: Practice paddling and trail walk

🌟 Who Is This Program Designed For?
Adaptive Adventures programs and equipment are specially designed for individuals with a primary physical or visual disability and their families.
Essential Eligibility Criteria: Participants must be able to follow instructions and communicate effectively, with or without personal assistance provided by themselves to be eligible to participate in Adaptive Adventures programs. In water sports, participants must be able to close their own mouths to prevent water from entering.

👟 Dress Code & Essentials:
Wear comfortable, athletic attire suitable for activity (think breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics).
Don't forget closed-toe shoes and layers that can be easily added or removed.
We provide all necessary adaptive equipment.
Be sure to pack layers and other appropriate clothing as well as bug spray and sunscreen.
