Description
We will cover the basics of rope work, belay commands, climber movement, and adaptive techniques and systems. We will discuss participant assessment, terrain choice, and disability ettiquette to better prepare you for the volunteer experience. The benefits of climbing have been proven to help a wide range of disabilities such as PTSD, amputees, and TBI's. Benefits of rock climbing include physical and mental aspects such as practice of fine motor skills, coordination of movements, balance, and core control as well as problem solving and mental focus. We will also discuss our goal of meeting every participant as an individual and how to encourage each climber to push their unique and personal comfort zones.
