Description

ABOUT

The Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival returns for its 12th year at the scenic Busse Woods (Ned Brown Preserve), just outside downtown Chicago. A highlight on the Major League Dragon Boat (MLDB) circuit, this event draws top-tier teams and spirited community crews from across the U.S. and Canada.

Since moving to Busse Woods in 2018, the festival has earned praise for its natural beauty, smooth operations, and inclusive atmosphere. Racers range from national champions to corporate and community teams, all competing in high-energy races that test speed and endurance.

Beyond the water, the festival features a Cultural Village, Health and Wellness Village, and a lively Athletes’ Village. The event also supports Adaptive Adventures, helping to expand access to adaptive sports for individuals with physical disabilities.

Whether you're paddling or spectating, this is a celebration of sport, culture, and community you won’t want to miss.

🏢SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Race times will be assigned by the event hosts. Exact schedule will be communicated as far in advance as possible, but likely the week of the event.

🌅SPORT

Dragon Boat racing is a fun team-oriented activity where teammates work to paddle in unison with one another to propel the boat ahead in the water faster than their opponents. Dragon boat races feature an exhilarating combination of premier sports competition in concert with an entertainment showcase for corporations, community organizations, and families. This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of representing people with disabilities and their supporters.
